Summary: Attempting year-long arduous adventure fundraising challenge for the Veterans Foundation
A bit about me…. I am a Commissioned Officer in the British Army, fitness enthusiast and amateur adventurer. Proud to have served for nearly ten years but currently transitioning to civilian life and determined to take this opportunity to do something meaningful and inspiring.
Although I have taken part in minor fundraising events, and been on plenty of mini adventures before, I have never organised a major fundraising challenge like this or gone adventuring solo. Despite my military experience, this is slightly terrifying!
My time coaching soldiers has made me passionate about leading and developing others to try new experiences and achieve higher levels of performance. This, combined with my love of living healthily (both physically and mentally) is what sparked the idea for this challenge.
I am also a huge advocate of supporting veterans and mental health awareness. It is rare to go through life without experiencing personal trauma of some sort, whether that has been on the battlefield or in your personal life. I am a firm believer that trauma should not define you but can be harnessed to motivate you in endlessly positive ways, and it is never too late to get back on track.
I hope you like the idea of this challenge and will consider donating to the Veterans Foundation or sponsoring me in any small way, as I am self funding all the activities at present.
